The 2012 Recyler of the Year Award recipients have been announced! WSRA honored organizations, businesses and individuals for outstanding recycling achievements at the annual Recyclers of the Year Awards Banquet on Tuesday evening, May 1, 2012, a highlight of the WSRA annual conference at Spokane’s historic Davenport Hotel, April 29 – May 2. Recyclers of the Year are selected by a panel of WSRA members representing a variety of aspects of the recycling industry, including collectors and processors, government agencies, businesses and non-profit organizations. Click here to read the press release announcing the 2012 award recipients. 2011 As part of the continued work of the WA Commingled Recycling Improvements Project, the BMP Guide for Governments – What to Include in Your Residential Commingled Recycling Collection Program – was finalized by the Expanded Southwest Commingled Workgroup in September 2011 and is now available as an official publication: http://www.ecy.wa.gov/biblio/1107026.html. The King County LinkUp Mattress Recycling webpage has been updated with the notes and presentations from the Dec. 7 Summit, as well as information on mattress stewardship legislation introduced in Connecticut and Rhode Island. King County is also moving forward with expanding the Take it Back Network to include mattress recycling locations. More information coming soon! In 2011, WSRA received a $5,000 scholarship grant from The Recycling Foundation to ensure that 8-10 students were able to attend WSRA's 31st annual Conference & Trade show, May 22-25, 2011.
